Michael J. Graham, who grew up in Limerick, Ireland, is a student and speaker of Irish. He is the Leas-Uachtarán of Cumann na Gaeilge i mBoston.
“The Cloak of Mordán” represents his second effort as an author, his first being a popular bi-lingual (Gaeilge / Béarla) comic book, “Ó Foghlú an dá chúil / 2-Goal Foley”.
Michael’s interest in the language, history, culture and folklore of Ireland led him to write a story about Donncha Ó Cualáin who, as a boy growing up in Connemara, loved to hear the tales of the seanchaithe (traditional story tellers).
These wise men wandered about the land regaling all with stories from the history and folklore of Ireland. The stories Donncha heard in his youth imbued him with principles that he carried with him when he emigrated to America.
Now, having left all he held dear across the ocean in Ireland, Donncha clings to the traditions and stories he knows best, and struggles with the changes in his life, in a new country.
“The Cloak of Mordán” is available at: http://tiny.cc/p0eg6x. All proceeds from the sale go to the author.
Please note that there is an Irish version “in the pipeline” as well and we will let you know when it becomes available.
