Celebrate St. Brigid’s Day!
St. Patrick’s Day, in March, is well known and well celebrated, to be sure. But the chilly month of February has an important holiday for the Irish, too, and that is the feast of St. Brigid on February 1. Traditionally, it is a day to welcome the coming spring and honor the woman who is known to many as The Patroness of Ireland.
Cumann na Gaeilge i mBoston and the Aisling Gallery are hosting a St. Brigid’s Day celebration on Saturday, February 1, from 2-5 pm. Everyone is invited to celebrate the day with us at this free event and we hope you’ll come by for an afternoon of good craic.
Come and learn about the history of St. Brigid with Celtic scholar, Dorothy Africa, currently on staff at the Langdell Library at Harvard, enjoy the gallery and the art, music from Moira Kelly’s harp and Ramona Connelly’s fiddle, and some light fare. There will be a good amount of spoken Gaeilge (Irish), as well! Information will also be available about Cumann na Gaeilge and our language courses.
Saturday, February 1, 2-5 pm, at the Aisling Gallery, 229 Lincoln St. (Rte. 3A), Hingham. Free. For weather related updates, call the gallery at 781-749-0555.
