As part of the 1916 Commemoration Glór na nGael is organising a Summer School in Boston from the 17th-19th June 2016. This will give an opportunity to Irish speakers and learners in North America to celebrate the influence the 1916 Rising had on the language and culture. There is a programme of events planned for the weekend, with an official welcoming at the Consulate General on Friday the 17th June, with a full day events on Saturday in the Seaport Hotel including discussions on the following – The Yank and the Irish Language, the Irish in America & the 1916 Rising, There will be a seannós dancing workshop & Seannós singing will also be discussed.
Pat Carey, Chairperson of Glór na nGael said –
“Its a great honour for Glór na nGael to be involved with the Irish community in North America for a number of years, and we hope this gathering will only enhance this relationship”.
This is the fourth event organised by Glór na nGael with Irish Groups overseas since 2007 as part of our international work Global Gaeilge, which is organised in conjunction with the Dept. Of Foreign Affairs & Trade.
